if I shoot a digital color photo with a color filter, If I convert to B&W with software=more contrast?
I am learning photography in class and we are being taught with only 35mm. now we go on to color filters and shooting B&W .
I understand how color filters will alter the contrast of the B&W photo.
Now my question is if I were to shoot a sky photo my dslr with a color filter . say deep red. .. When I put them on my computer, I see a very reddish image. Now if I were to convert to Gray scale using software tool. Would I get the same result as a film camera (assume both photos are identical?)

For added contrast using your DSLR, you will want to use a polarizing filter.
Do all your conversion to black and white using your version of Photoshop.
* Use the saturation tool and set it to -100
* Use the level tool to adjust the black threshold, white threshold and adjust the mid-tones until you have what you want.
I am surprised you have not asked your instructor this question.
